The risk of not being prepared for Change
Synopsis: Usually Risk Management deals with events that are not according a plan in such a way to not become issues, or even worst – crisis. The most probable thing is that such an event will happen, just don’t know which one or even that we have been aware about it. As a consequence of such an event – the change management process is usually engaged. Producing preventive actions, Risk Management supposes to dilute the denial phase of any change perception for project stakeholders; but how much effective is in that? Is any assessment of how much project team can absorb the risk or is prepared to deal with unknown risks? Is any match between the creativity needed to produce the project result and mindset about risks and changes of project management team? What is the dynamic of this mindset over new generations that will populate new project teams? The aim of this presentation is to make a reflection about our readiness for change in projects in context of risks (threats and opportunities) and change of focus from correctness to effectiveness in project management from this perspective.
